@cell something i actually dislike about many of the otherwise absolutely fantastic cheap IEMs we have nowadays are the detachable cables

because those tiny connectors are very delicate and prone to electrical (oxide buildup) or mechanical failure. they don’t last very long from what i’ve seen

i bought my current IEMs in 2014 (etymotic hf2). compared to even the $20 moondrops, they seem cheaply made. plastic housing, barely any strain relief on the cables… but they’ve taken a lot of abuse. they’re scratched up and pretty often i’d just carelessly stuff them in my pockets
