@Suiseiseki chroot requires CAP_SYS_CHROOT, which effectively requires a rooted device. acquiring root on android devices is not always easily possible and can have undesired side effects because google, hardware vendors and carriers are enemies of your freedom.

on sailfish OS, as with disabling package signature enforcement, you simply toggle an option in the settings. it will install a terminal app and ssh server, and let you set a root password. it will in no way discourage you from doing this.
