@mia@shrimptest.0x0.st@kinderstampfer that’s true i suppose. i hope meson will take its place and gain enough popularity to displace the worse ones. i think it is a worthy successor. the way it’s designed makes it highly consistent in its behavior across very different types of software project, AND it offers introspection features you can use to programmatically reason about the build system from outside the build system with nothing but a json parser. to my knowledge, nothing else has this.
makes it a lot easier to package stuff overall. specifically in RPM distros, you can already just put a BuildSystem: meson in the spec file and it drastically cuts down the boilerplate you have to write in at least 90% of all cases. it’ll know how to configure, build, install and test everything.
