i used to lurk in the midipix irc channel for a couple years but then i quit because i stopped caring about windows

but if you ever want to target windows, you should look into it midipix.org

it implements syscall wrappers and a bunch of other stuff to get real posix stuff on windows. that means musl libc. and it means not using msvcrt at all. you can have a windows executable with zero imports. one that supports both the GUI subsystem and attaches to a console. and with actual fork that’s orders of magnitude faster than CreateProcess etc.
