looks like what happened is that they went from 4:4:4 to 4:2:2 (half the chroma width) with a point resampler (which is how everything got shifted to the right) and then to 4:2:0 with something less terrible
the good news is that this is partially reversible and lost chroma resolution can be recovered from luma
