@vivi @eris yeah that sums it up pretty well.

niri is nice because you can rely almost entirely on muscle memory. you can 100% predict where windows will spawn, where your actions will move them, and which window you will focus when switching between them.

alt+(shift+)tab on the other hand is a far less ergonomic long list of windows that is reordered whenever you switch focus. with multiple displays niri also has independent scroll planes on each one, which floating WMs generally don’t do. so you can use different monitors for different contexts and keep them cleanly separated.
